PHONE MAST COULD RUIN CALL OF THE WILD

Plans to extend the life of a controversial phone mast in Churcham could create havoc for migrating swans. Phone giant T-Mobile wants planning permission to maintain its temporary mast for another six months.
But the 24.4-metre structure could confuse migrating Bewick's swans, it is claimed.
Wildlife groups including Cotswold Animal and Bird Rescue and Natural England have voiced concern over the effect the mast's magnetic field has on the birds' sense of navigation in the final stages of their journey from the Arctic to warmer climes in England.
