They would provide the committee with information needed to prepare for the confirmation hearings for Michael Mukasey, Bush's nomination to replace Alberto Gonzales as chief US law enforcement officer.

Thirteen Lawmakers Subpoenaed in Bribery Trial

The Associated Press reports, "Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert, House Republican Whip Roy Blunt and 11 other members of Congress have been subpoenaed to testify in the trial of a defense contractor charged with bribing jailed former Rep. Randy 'Duke' Cunningham."
