Jubilant campaigners claim mast victory

SCHOOL leaders are celebrating victory after a controversial application for a mobile phone mast – which would sit just yards from their gates – was withdrawn.
For the past three weeks, Newquay Pre-School has campaigned against mobile phone giant Vodafone, which planned to erect a mobile mast on a floodlight at Newquay AFC'S Mount Wise Stadium.
However, after a public crusade against the plans by the school, Newquay AFC's committee withdrew their consent for Vodafone's application on the stadium, scuppering the plans.
Reacting to the news, Karen Austin, chairman of the preschool committee, said she was overjoyed.
"I am absolutely delighted that it's all over now and the school can now focus on other things," she said.
