Another phone mast going up near me

Another phone mast going up near me. I note from the O2 application that they are using a lot more documentation to convince the local council how safe their masts are. They have mention a report undertaken on behalf the City of Manchester by somebody called Professor S K Barton. Can anybody give me the low down on this person, eg phone operator links etc.

Thanks,

John E

John

The good Professor - plainly no conflicts of interest here - can't possibly have any preconceived notions which might make him question current industrial standards, interests and exploitation of wireless comms.

He is a prolific wireless research engineer, with no evident biophysics or health track record. He will know a bomb about the workings of the technology but will be an industry standard ' it's ICNIRP it's safe' adherent.

see - https://www.simonshepherd.supanet.com/sjsacad.htm

Since 2001 - 2005 Member of COST Action 273 - 'Towards Mobile Broadband Multimedia Networks' which is not the health relevant COST 281 Group.

Prof. S K Barton, Univ. of Manchester and Worldwide Universities Network

Professor of Mobile Systems Architecture, Dept of Computer Science

Head of - Wireless Communications

By combining the global expertise and resources of the WUN partners, the aim of the Group is to develop next generation technologies for wireless communications. Wireless Communications continues to be an exciting area of international research with rapid developments in the technology. All areas of society are becoming increasingly aware of the potential for wireless communications, with almost every individual possessing it in their homes. This is placing an increasingly high demand on industry and academia to develop the next-generation technology and is providing increasing opportunities for international collaboration between universities and industry.

(you bet!)

Mast goes up after council error

Another mast blunder story (a plethora of such stories recently).

I have a "bite" from (methinks) a phone operator. Anybody want to join in the comments? All good fun!

Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution: INVITATION TO COMMENT ON TOPICS FOR FUTURE STUDY

https://www.rcep.org.uk/futurestudy07.htm

--------

Re: Royal Commission

I have written to the RC as follows:

I have been made aware that you are to consider embarking on a study and are inviting comments on the possible list of topics.

I have been researching the subject of electromagnetic radiation for some time and feel that this is arguably the most serious environmental hazard we have ever faced - independent scientists have described it as "a health tsunami, the like of which we have never seen before", "will kill more people in peacetime than any war" and "the greatest environmental crisis we have faced".

From the list you have put forward for consideration, I believe that (pulsed) electromagnetic radiation falls into four of those categories.

Climate Adaptation in the UK The massive amount of base stations needed to support the growing number of applications for this technology (including our police network - possibly to be extended to all emergency services) has been suggested as a possible factor in global warming. These base stations also add to the pressure on the national grid by being on stand by 24/7.

Environment and Human Wellbeing Both physical and mental wellbeing of many people in communities around mobile phone and TETRA base stations are being adversely affected. The WHO recognise that both factors are essential for the maintenance of general good health. It is widely accepted that more research is needed into this subject but funding has not been forthcoming for epidemiological studies to establish the facts - while in the meantime people live in uncertainty (and often, as in the case of EHS individuals) pain and discomfort.

Noise Pollution Although most of us do not recognise pulsed electromagnetic radiation as audible noise, nevertheless some sensitive individuals do, in fact, hear the waves emitted from mobile phone apparatus. This is discussed world-wide as "The Hum" - and is known to our HPA. There is evidence to suggest that more and more people are becoming sensitive to the growing level of "electrosmog" (has been estimated could be as much as 9% of the population). Although stretching a point, I believe EMR could feasibly be included under this heading.

The Electromagnetic Environment

I would welcome your comments on the above thoughts and look forward to hearing from you.

I have had a reply from Jon Freeman confirming that my comments will be forwarded for consideration.

Local council bans mobile masts

Kent County Council (KCC) has banned all mobile phone masts from its properties because of fears about radiation omissions, and is believed to be the first council to be working towards a complete ban within its boundaries.

KCC said it took the decision following the publication of last year's Stewart report into the possible health risks posed by mobile masts and mobile phones. Council leader Sandy Bruce-Lockhart said: "We take very seriously the findings of the Stewart report [which] called for a 'precautionary approach'."

Office ‘smog’ risk to health

THE electronic “smog” generated by computers, printers and other office equipment may be exposing workers to raised levels of pollutants and bacteria, a study has found.

The research, by Imperial College London, examined whether there was any substance to complaints by office workers who report headaches and other health problems after spending long periods working with electronic equipment.

Such claims are often dismissed by employers but the research suggests these electric fields can cause harm.

WiFi are 'safe'?

Mobile comms. & WiFi are 'safe' - well as much as in the long tradition of -

'Yeah, we know it's toxic but it makes heaps of dough and it's quite useful so we'll get governments to appoint our kind of 'experts' who'll sit on top of it, quibble with unwelcome evidence, rig a few 'fail to finds', manufacture 'uncertainty' that we can spin into 'safety' and string it out for as long as the money rolls in. We' ll even open up new and bigger markets. When the crunch comes the tax-paying bozos will probably foot the bill.'

There is a very long history of how big biz deals with inconvenient truths about its golden geese. The more powerful the industry the more unscrupulous the deception. The easy co-option of establishment science figures and pr industry tricks to make soothing noises to lure public trust has caused much avoidable death and injury. But they have no qualms, we the herd are all expendable. For your own sake learn the formula big biz uses from among the following examples -
