But even the resilience of the hemisphere's poorest citizens can be pushed too far, and with world food prices spiking this year due to shrinking harvests, burgeoning demand and skyrocketing fuel prices, it should be little surprise that Haiti is once again erupting in angry violence."

Unterschiedliche Quellen sprechen von 2-7 Toten, hunderten von Verletzten und Massenverhaftungen von 500 bis 700 Demonstranten. Die Lage ist zur Zeit sehr unübersichtlich. Wir haben dazu einen aktuellen Bericht von Natalie, die gestern um 7:00 Uhr Ortzeit mit dem Zug nach Mahalla gefahren ist.
