Fearful citizens flee from Ramadi

U.S. and Iraqi forces cordoned off the city Saturday and were asking civilians to evacuate, residents and Iraqi officials said. Airstrikes on several residential areas picked up, and troops used loudspeakers to warn civilians of a fierce impending attack, Ramadi police Capt. Tahseen Aldulaimi said.

Death squad activity in Iraq now accounts for more than 1,000 casualties per month. The Baghdad morgue has become a conveyor-belt for American-generated carnage.

Es würden keine deutschen Soldaten und Ausbilder im Irak eingesetzt, sagte Vize-Regierungssprecher Thomas Steg am Freitag in Berlin. Die NATO hatte vor zwei Jahren Ausbildungshilfe für die irakischen Streitkräfte beschlossen. Seither wurden 1000 Offiziere in Bagdad geschult und weitere 500 in Europa, auch an der Hamburger Führungsakademie der Bundeswehr. In den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten trainieren deutsche Soldaten zudem irakische Pioniere.
